Coleman Allen

Mr. Coleman Allen, age 77 of Clarkesville went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville following a brief illness. A life-long native of Habersham County, Mr. Allen was born on June 28, 1934, the son of the late Rev. Percy and Tannie Roberts Allen. Mr. Allen worked for 32 ½ years with Clarkesville Mill and retired after 20 years with Peachtree Windows and Doors. Coleman enjoyed life to the fullest, loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, was an avid car enthusiast, and most of all loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of whom he was not ashamed to share about with many others. He also enjoyed going to church and traveling around to hear Gospel singing. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Della Mae Wilbanks Allen, Clarkesville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Oaklon and Sheila Allen, Demorest, GA, Bart and Kim Allen, Dacula, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Herbert Edwards, Clarkesville, GA; grandchildren, Blake Allen and Mark Allen, Athens, GA, Hannah Allen and Luke Allen, Dacula, GA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA with Rev. Donnie Balenger, Rev. Johnny Brady and Rev. Bill Trotter officiating. Interment will follow in the Demorest City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Independent Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1384, Demorest, GA 30535.
