Cleveland Franklin "Mac" Mcdonald

CLEVELAND FRANKLIN "MAC" MCDONALD, age 84, of Clarkesville, Georgia, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at his residence. Mr. McDonald was born on November 20, 1921 in Fulton County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Edward R. and Venyer Mae Garner McDonald and was also preceded in death by a sister, Marjean Steerman and brothers, W. C. McDonald and Richard McDonald. Mr. McDonald was retired from The Veterans Administration. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army. Mr. McDonald was a member and a deacon of the Hollywood Baptist Church, and was also a member of the Habersham Gideons, North Camp. Survivors include: his wife, Mary Chapman McDonald, Clarkesville, GA; Daughter and Son-in-law: Virginia McDonald and David Abbot, Alexandria, VA; Daughters: Linda McDonald Just, Fall River, Mass; Sharon McDonald Williams, Clemmons, NC; and Foster Children: Somsack "Sam" and Somchanh Sengsouvong, and family, Lula, GA; Grandchildren and their spouses: Stephanie Abbot Boik and Robert Boik, Beth Abbot Parks and Darren Parks, Matthew and Beth Abbot, Jennifer Abbot Pendleton and Bryan Pendleton, Lauren and Dan Gallivan, Scott and Stacey Just, Stacey and Jermy Oxendine, Marc Williams; 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2006 from the Hollywood Baptist Church with Pastor Don Samples and Rev. Donald Holbrook officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. McDonald will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. on Friday to lie in state until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the Hollywood Baptist Church, Family Life Center Fund, 208 Hollywood Church Road, Clarkesville, GA 30523, Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, 2150 Limestone Pkwy, Suite 222, Gainesville, GA 30501, or to The Gideons, P.O.
