CHARLES ALLEN "CHUCK" EVITTS, age 77, of Alto, GA passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Evitts was born on August 9, 1931 in Mahanoy City, PA to the late Allen Blair and Ruth Tregellas Evitts. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Evitts was retired from Trust Company Bank as an information technologist with 25 years of service.He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion in Brunswick, Georgia as well as the Brunswick Masonic Lodge. Survivors include: wife of 57 years, Ruth Norris Evitts, daughter, Amy Stewart, both of Alto, GA; son, Allen Evitts, Cumming, GA, son and daughter-in-law, Chaz and Penny Evitts, Lawrenceville, GA; 6 grandchildren, Megan Evitts, Rachel Evitts, Blair Stewart, Robyn Stewart, Ryan Davidson and Ashley Davidson. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA with the Rev. Lois Boney officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15, and the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 9 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2009. Flowers are accepted and donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 2565 Thompson Bridge Road, Suite 114, Gainesville, GA 30501. ARRANGEMENTS ARE IN THE CARE OF THE WHITFIELD FUNERAL HOME, NORTH CHAPEL, DEMOREST, GA 706-778-1700.
