Christine Smith Taylor

CHRISTINE SMITH TAYLOR, age 85, of Demorest, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 2, 2011, following a brief illness. Mrs. Taylor was born on October 10, 1925, in Stephens County, Georgia, to the late George W. and Betty Jean Holbrooks Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, S.A. Taylor, her five sisters, and her five brothers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Taylor worked several years at Piedmont Automotive, Scovill Fasteners, and finally as a cook with Habersham County Medical Center for many years before retiring. Christine loved taking care of her husband and children, cooking, and gardening. She was a member of the Fairfield Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Joan Moore, Pensacola, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Michael Caron, Ben Wheeler, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Doyle and Gayle Taylor, Demorest, GA; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at the Fairfield Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Allison and Rev. Charles Black officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, September 5, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia. The family requests that everyone meet at the church at 10:50 a.m. for the service. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the many calls, visits, prayers, and compassion shown toward them during Mrs. Christine's brief illness. Special thanks to Rev.
