Christell Lawrence Meeks

CHRISTELL LAWRENCE MEEKS, age 82, of Cornelia, Georgia, died Friday, December 5, 2008 at the Habersham County Medical Center. Mrs. Meeks was born on February 8, 1926 in Banks County, Georgia to the late Emory and Minnie Brady Lawrence. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Florine Lawrence and a brother, Buford Smith. She was a 1943 Graduate of Baldwin High School. Mrs. Meeks was a member of the Level Grove Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker. Survivors include: her husband, W. C. "Bill" Meeks, Cornelia, GA; her daughter and son-in-law: Gail and Bill Raper, Alto, GA; her son and daughter-in-law: Calvin and Vickie Meeks, Easley, SC; her brother and sister-in-law: James and Monteen Lawrence, Gainesville, GA; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2008 from the Level Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Brian James and Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. on Saturday.
