Charles Ray Metcalf

CHARLES RAY METCALF, age 84, of Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at a local area hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Metcalf was born on November 4, 1928, in Clayton, Georgia; son of the late Isaac Ether Metcalf and Cora Truma McCoy Metcalf. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Neugebauer; brothers, Claude Metcalf, Ed Metcalf, J.D. Metcalf, James Metcalf, Shorty Metcalf and Doc Metcalf; sisters, Jo Pointer and Bessie Smith. Mr. Metcalf was a member of Bethel Temple C.H. Church and was the owner-operator of Ray's Trucking. Survivors include his wife, Leola Chapman Metcalf, Clarkesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Gary Jones, Clarkesville and June and Roger Tench, Danielsville; sister, Pearl Fore, Laurinburg, NC; two grandchildren, Jana L. Deaton and Chad Kranats; two step-grandchildren, Chad Tench and Brent Tench. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Jonathan Fitzpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday.
