MR. CHARLES EDWARD MOORE, age 69, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his family following a brief illness. Mr. Moore was born on July 10, 1942 a son of the late Alonzo and Lucy Ann Nix Moore. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and had worked in the logging industry for many years. Affectionately known as Papa, Mr. Moore was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roland and Carrie Grant Moore. Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Myloe L. Moore, Mt. Airy, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Chani M. and Rodney J. Scott, Mooresville, NC; son, Edward "Pete" Moore, Mt. Airy, GA; sister, Selva Jean Dorsey, Mt. Airy, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jo and Efford Kimbrell, Demorest, GA; brother, Rex Nix, Locust Grove, GA; cousin(reared in home) and wife, Stanley and Kay Robertson, Daphne, AL; grandchildren, Erika Scott, Mooresville, NC; Jackson Scott, Toccoa, GA; Cody Wade and wife, Lindsey, Clarkesville, GA; Megan Ramey, Mt. Airy, GA; McKenzie Moore, Mt. Airy, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel in Baldwin with the Rev. Roy Bainey and Rev. Stanley Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens in Demorest with full military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post # 84, the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post # 7720, the Rabun County D.A.V. Chapter # 15, and the Georgia National Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 9 p.m. on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, Georgia 30605-3007.
