CHARLES DON BLACK, SR., age 74, of Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2012. Mr. Black was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 23, 1938. He was preceded in death by his father, Terrence Ferry and his mother, Velma Clifford Brown. Mr. Black was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from the Kraft Foods Corporation with 19 years of dedicated service. He was a member of The Torch, a 32nd degree Mason, and Scottish Rite. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Kay A. Black, Clarkesville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Black Reid and Charles, Sugar Hill, GA; daughter, Stacy Kay Black, Clarkesville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Don Black, Jr. and Rhonda, Winder, GA; sister, Renee Black, Clarkesville, GA; brothers, Thomas A. Black, Lawrenceville, GA and Frank Ruckle, Bradenton, FL; grandchildren, Charles Matthew Reid, Edwin Daniel Reid, Riley Hayes Black, and Jared Harris Black; and great-grandchild, Gavyn Matthew Reid. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at The Torch, with Pastor Mike Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15, and the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, September 3, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
