Carlton W. Blackburn

CARLTON W. BLACKBURN, age 89, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2015 in Southaven, Mississippi. Mrs. Blackburn was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the 3L Sunday School Class, Helping Hands, Roundtable, was a former Sunday School teacher of the Beginners Class and helped with Vacation Bible School. She was born April 18, 1926 in Habersham County to the late Carl W. and Ninnie Nunn Whitmire. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sanford K. Blackburn; and brother, Lamar C. Whitmire. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Bobby Snyder of Southaven, Mississippi; son and daughter-in-law, Kim and Christie Blackburn of Dacula, Georgia; sister, Miriam W. Bentley of Cornelia, Georgia; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM, Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Cornelia, Georgia with Dr. Eric Spivey and Rev. David Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Whitfield Funeral Home South Chapel in Baldwin.
