Carl Barrett

Carl Barrett, age 80, of Demorest, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Barrett was born on January 11, 1929 in Towns County, Georgia to the late Robert and Carrie Bryson Barrett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Cecil Barrett, Claude Barrett, and Cline Barrett and a sister, Florence Nichols. Mr. Barrett was a 26 year member of the Habersham Baptist Church and served as the church custodian for 23 years. Survivors include: his wife of 58 years: Mrs. Eula Chastain Barrett, Demorest, GA; his daughter and son-in-law: Pat and Doug Irvin, Demorest, GA; his son and daughter-in-law: Randy and Lisa Barrett, Demorest, GA; his sister: Pauline England, Blairsville, GA; his brother: Lucius Barrett, Young Harris, GA; his grandchildren: Christie and Harley Cofield, Dawsonville, GA; Carrie Irvin, Demorest, GA; Robby Barrett, Demorest, GA; his great-grandchildren: Hunter and Jacob Cofield, Dawsonville, GA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2009 from the Habersham Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Thomas, Rev. Johnny Thomas, and Rev. Russ Barker officiating. Interment will follow in the Habersham Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2009.
