BRUCE EDWARD SIMMONS, age 58, of Homer, GA, died Saturday, January 26, 2008 at a private care facility. Mr. Simmons was born on June 2, 1949 in Banks County, Georgia to the late Brodice and Gleness Kelley Simmons. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Whitney Fowler. Mr. Simmons attended Banks County High School. He was in the trucking business for 30 years having owned and operated Kayton Express, Inc for 22 years. Mr. Simmons attended the Mt. Sinai Congregational Holiness Church. Survivors include: his wife: Glenda Tyler Simmons, Homer, GA; his daughters: Karen Fowler and Tonya Pruitt, both of Homer, GA; his sisters: Arlene Gailey and Annie Ruth Simmons, both of Baldwin, GA; his brothers: Ernest Simmons and Rickey Simmons, both of Baldwin, GA; 6 grandchildren: Christina Fowler, Dylan Fowler, Kirkland Pruitt, Gabriel Pruitt, Kim Pruitt, and Haleigh Pruitt. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2008 at the Mt. Sinai Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Billy Autry, Rev. Herman Nation, and Rev. Greg Baldwin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
