Brenda Short Martin

Brenda Short Martin, age 61, of Cornelia, GA, died Saturday, July 15, 2006 at Emory University Hospital. Mrs. Martin was born December 22, 1944 in Fulton County, GA to the late William Benjamin and Queen Elizabeth Maney Short. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Johnny and Wendell Short. Mrs. Martin was a graduate of South Habersham High School and Piedmont College. She received her Master's Degree in Mathematics from Brenau College. Mrs. Martin was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she was a member of Betty Deadwyler's Sunday School Class and was a library assistant. She was a member of Piedmont College Torch Club and was a former member of Cornelia Lions Club. She retired after 27 ½ years service as a teacher at South Habersham Middle School. Survivors include: her husband, W. Ross Martin, Cornelia, GA, daughter: Teri Graham, Mt. Airy, GA, sisters: Betty Matkowski, San Diego, California, Debbie Champlin, Jefferson, GA, brother: Wayne Short, Demorest, GA and two grandchildren: Brooke Graham and Alex Graham. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 19, 2006 from the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Furman Lewis, Rev. Bill Cashion and Rev. Tommy Stowe officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 18, 2006 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 6 PM - 8 P.M. at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
