Brenda Kay Ballew

BRENDA KAY BALLEW, age 62, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Ballew was born on January 27, 1950, in Clarkesville, Georgia; a daughter of the late Joe Swain and Mildred Mize Wood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Gene Ballew and her sister, Linda Smith. Mrs. Ballew was employed with the Johnson and Johnson Company and a member of the Central Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Hoyt Gosnell, Clarkesville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Stacy Henson, Cornelia, GA; son, Scott Shirley, Lincolnton, GA; sisters, Carolyn Barron, Clarkesville, GA, Betty Tench, Demorest, GA, and Leah Smith, Clarkesville, GA; brothers, Kenneth Wood, Cornelia, GA, Phillip Wood, and Tommy Wood, both of Clarkesville, GA; grandchildren, Drew Gosnell, Lindsey Gosnell, Tiffany Shirley, and Brandon Shirley; and one great-granddaughter, Jaycee Gosnell. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Rev. Wayne Fowler and Rev. Tony Goss officiating. Interment will follow in the Demorest City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at the North Chapel.
