Boyce Brady

Boyce Brady, age 89, of the Damascus Church Community, Baldwin, GA, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Brady was born on September 6, 1920 in Banks County, Georgia to the late Will and Nancy Kelley Brady. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Sue Bennett Brady and Marsha Sears Brady, a son, Everage Brady, a grandchild and a great-grandchild, as well as his brothers, Otha, Owen, and Boyd Brady and his sisters, Ola Ausburn, Violet Westbrooks, Mary Hays, and Florine Thompson. Mr. Brady was a member and deacon of the Damascus Baptist Church. He was a United States Army World War II veteran having served his country bravely and received the Purple Heart Medal for Valor. Mr. Brady retired as supervisor from Robinson Furniture and Toccoa Manufacturing with 40 years of service. Survivors include: his daughter and son-in-law: Edna and James Palmer, Toccoa, GA; his sons and daughters-in-law: Marvin and Olivia Brady, Eastanollee, GA; Kenneth and Dianne Brady, Gillsville, GA; his son: Edward Brady, Baldwin, GA; his step-son and daughter-in-law: Ronnie and Carla Roberts, Baldwin, GA; his sister: Lillie Mae Pitts, Mt. Airy, GA; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, GA, with Rev. Harold Ledford and Rev. Gene Todd officiating. Interment will follow in the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Roy Rogers officiating at the graveside. Full military honors will be provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post #7720, and the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15. The family will receive friends at the South Chapel from 2 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2010. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Ronnie Blalock, 4590 Hwy 63, Carnesville, GA 30521.
