Betty Chambers Nix, age 89, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at her residence. Mrs. Nix was born on December 29, 1929 in Hall County, Georgia to the late Owen and Thelma Glover Chambers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Randall Ray Nix; brother, Thomas Chambers; and sister, Shirley Sell. Mrs. Nix worked as a cashier for over 10 years at Harper's 5 & 10. Mrs. Nix loved to work with her hands, spending much time on crafts and crocheting. Mrs. Betty, known as Nanny was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Angela Pate, of Cornelia; sons, Ray Nix and Margaret, of Tocooa; Larry Nix and Judy, of Toccoa; grandchildren, Greg Nix and Shawn, of Ware Shoals, SC; Paula McIntyre and Ian, of Winder; Heath Pate and Valinda, of Randolph, AL; Eric Nix, of Daphne, AL; great-grandchildren, Rachel-Beth Nix; Lane Pate; Gavyn McIntyre; Abby Pate; Drew Nix; Lauryn McIntyre; sister, Llnell Duncan and Bobby, of Commerce; and a number of neices and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Greg Nix officating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will accept friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
