Betty Jane

Betty Jane May. age 58, of Demorest, GA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, following a sudden illness. Mrs. May was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 29, 1960, to the late James and Avita Lewis. She moved to Gerogia in 1995 to be with her first love and childhood sweetheart, James E. May. She loved flea markets, auction houses, and reading. Mrs. May was co-owner of Tasty Ice Cream Truck with her husband, James, of 19 years. She was retired from Wal-Mart as a Customer Service Representative. She was a member of the Baldwin Baptist Church. Survivors include: her husband, SFC James E. May, Demorest, daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Eric Soorus, Cornelia, and one granddaughter, Storm Joyce , Cornelia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 7, 2019, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA, with the Rev. Daniel Parker officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 am Saturday until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to the local Humane Society.
