Bessie Martin Ward

BESSIE MARTIN WARD, age 94, of Cornelia, GA passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009. Mrs. Ward was born in Banks County, on February 9, 1915 to the late U. S. Martin and Rilla Caudell Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Broughton B. Ward, daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine and Lamb Davis, grandson, Douglas Davis, son-in-law, Ed Hannas, brothers, Ruthford, Hoyt, Bud, Lloyd and Vance Martin. Mrs. Ward was a member of Cornelia Christian Church where she served as the church's food service coordinator for many years. She retired from Chicopee Manufactory Company with 35 years of dedicated service. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Laverne and Efford Loudermilk, Cornelia, GA; daughter, Glenda Hannas, Cornelia, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Crete Ward, Cornelia, GA; sister, Laurell Shockley, Toccoa, GA; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009 from the Cornelia Christian Church with David Terrell and Jason Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Monday, May 25, 2009 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, GA.
