A memorial service for Bennie Scott will be held from 11:30 am - 2:30 pm Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 9125 Twelvestone Drive, Roswell, GA. Bennie died Tuesday, December 02, 2008 at his residence after a long battle with cancer. He was born July 24, 1925 in Cullman, Ala, the son of Calvin and Elizabeth Scott. Bennie was a 25 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He began his military career in the U.S. Navy. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Donald Scott, Roland Scott, Durrell Scott, and Auben Scott, and his grandson Michael Scott Fischer. Survivors include three sons; Peppie Scott, his wife Jane, Jerry Scott, and Tim Scott of Columbia, S.C., and 4 daughters; Carolita Strickland, her husband George of Tuscon, AZ, Diane Eckweiler and her husband Mike of York, S.C., Kathy Scott and her husband Dick Williams of Roswell, GA, and Trina Woods and her husband Andy of Merritt Island, FL. Bennie is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Ashley, Brittan, Ramsey, Whitney, Candace, Dakota, Cierra, and Alexis, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Bennie is also survived by one brother, Clyde Scott of Ohio and two sisters, Martha Nell Wildman and Fannie Scott, both of Hartselle, AL. Bennie enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing the lottery, visits from his family and friends and discussing politics. He was a proud veteran and a patriot and will always be remembered for his sense of humor and tenacity. Bennie will be dearly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations, in honor of Bennie Scott, may be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Inc. at 2150 Limestone Parkway, Suite 222, Gainesville, GA 30501.
