BARNEY SMITH, age 86, of Baldwin, Georgia, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015. He was born in Greensboro, GA on July 8, 1929 to the late Arthur and Lona Sexton Smith. He attended Alto Congregational Holiness Church and was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation with 26 years of service. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his sisters, Clara Mae Armour and Mary Ruth Martin; and brother, Jay Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Eloise Butler Smith of Baldwin; daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Max Stiarwalt of Alto, and Annette and Randy Ledford of Baldwin; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Brenda Smith of Baldwin; sisters, Eunice Smith of Lula, and Beatrice Ferguson of Demorest; brother, Johnny Smith of Gainesville; grandchildren, Corey Smith, Chancy Burrell, Jeremy Brown, Chris Brown, Brody Stiarwalt, and Anthony Ledford; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Alto C.H. Church with Rev. Scott Ledbetter, Rev. Leon Brown and lay-speaker, Doris Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00, Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the funeral home.
