Arzo Newsome

WILLIAM ARZO NEWSOME, age 89, of Baldwin, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Mr. Newsome was born on April 14, 1921 in Banks Co., GA to the late Albert E. Newsome, Sr. and Minnie Brady Newsome. He was preceded in death by his wife Estelle Wilbanks Newsome, two daughters Brenda Whitfield and Barbara Ann Newsome; his sisters Monteen Lewallen, Bob Whitfield, Lucille Peyton, and Pat Berry, and a brother Albert Newsome, Jr. Mr. Newsome was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer and was formerly employed with Carwood Mfg. and Mount Vernon Mills. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Elora and Wayne Watkins, Cornelia, GA; two sons and daughters-in-law Lilburn and Linda Newsome and Gary and Susie Newsome, all of Baldwin, GA; two sisters Merlene Caudell, Homer, GA and Faye Wright, Cornelia, GA. 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, January 21, 2011 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, GA with Rev. Billy Burrell and Rev. Connie Berry officiating. Interment will follow in Broad River Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 and Thursday January 20, 2011 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel.
