Annie Ruth Smith Wilbanks

MRS. ANNIE RUTH SMITH WILBANKS, age 97, of Baldwin, GA passed away Thursday, July 22, 2010. Mrs. Wilbanks was born in Banks County, on October 17, 1912. She was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Lena Stephens Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, David Sevier Wilbanks, her brothers, L.S. "Happy" Smith, Jr., Clayton Smith, and Bruce Smith, and her sisters, Ostine Smith Wilbanks, and Isabel Smith Ervin. Mrs. Wilbanks was a member of the Broad River Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school for many, many years and was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Mrs. Wilbanks was a retired school teacher with Habersham County School System. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lucy Wilbanks and James Ayers, Evans, GA; her son and daughter-in-law, David and Gail Kinsey Wilbanks, Cleveland, GA; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous loving nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 26, 2010, at the Broad River Baptist Church with Rev. Connie Berry and Rev. Steve Loeffler officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 25, 2010 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be made to the Gideons International at Habersham South Gideons, P.O. Box 195, Baldwin, GA 30511.
