Alma Payne Groom Funeral services for Alma Payne Groom of Panama City, Fla., will be held at 4 pm Wednesday, April 25, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin. Burial will follow in Level Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Groom died Friday, April 20, 2007. She moved from Cornelia to Panama City, Fla., in 1962 and retired in 2002, after 34 years of public service with the Bay County Property Appriaisers Office. Mrs. Groom cultivated likr-long friendships through her humble spirit. She was Presbyterian by faith and often encouraged others to find the peace that only God could provide. Survivors include her children, Raymond Charles Groom II and his wife Sherry, Michael Houston Groom and Charles Berkley Groom, all of Panama City, Fla.;brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Barbara Payne of Cornelia; and sister, Betty Zinke of Cornelia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 pm util the funeral hour on Wednesday. Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, is in charge of local arrangements.
