Alice Smith Chapman, age 84, of Alto, Georgia, passed away, Sunday, August 28, 2016. Mrs. Chapman was born on September 18, 1931 in Habersham County, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ranzy and Edna Walls Smith; brothers, Carlton "Peanut" Smith, Hoyt Smith; sisters, Janie Segars, and Hazel Peyton. Mrs. Chapman was a member of Hills Crossing Baptist Church. She was a retired School Bus Driver with Gwinnett County School System with 13 years of service, and was formerly employed with C & S Banks. Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Garnett Chapman, of Alto; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Pam Chapman, of Tellico Plains, TN; Dank and Buttons Chapman, of Alto; grandchildren, Jason Chapman, Chris Chapman, and Bridgette Chapman Hixson; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Mrs. Chapman was the last survivor of her immediate family. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Bill Byers officiating. Interment will follow Hills Crossing Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 29, 2016 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
