Albert F. "Whitey" Drost

ALBERT F. "WHITEY" DROST, age 82, of Clarkesville, Georgia and Haines City, Florida passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013. Mr. Drost was born on March 16, 1931, in Springfield, Massachusetts; son of the late John and Albertha Devlen Drost. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jackie Drost, Blackie Drost and Billy Drost and sister Shirley Bissenette. Mr. Drost was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Haines City, FL. and he attended Amy's Creek Baptist Church. He was a veteran of The United States Army, having served his country during the Korean conflict. Mr. Drost was a retired foreman with Chapman Industries. Survivors include his wife, Mary B. Drost, Clarkesville; daughters, Kathy Moreno, Winter Haven, FL. and Lori Kelly, Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Carolyn Drost, Chicopee, MA; son, Gary Drost, Hollywood, FL.; step-sons and their spouses, Robert and Dawn Joyner, Cumming, Brad and Jill Joyner, Clyde, NC., Jody and Darlene Joyner, Clarkesville; sister, Janet McRobbie, Springfield, MA.; brother, Ronnie Drost, Springfield, MA.; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Steve Merck. Full military honors provided by the Georgia National Guard, the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, and the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the Memorial service hour on Saturday, October 19, 2013.
