Albert C. Newsom

Mr. Albert C. Newsom, age 84 of the Fairview Community, Demorest, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Habersham County Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Newsom was born on January 31, 1926, in Scotland Neck, North Carolina to the late John P. and Fannie Lee Johnson Newsom. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Sterling and John Newsom. Mr. Newsom was a U.S. Army veteran serving in France and Germany during World War II. He was also the founder of Newsom Grading and Backhoe Service and a member of the Fairfield Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marjorie Boseman Newsom, Demorest, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Charles Cabana, Cleveland, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sylvia Newsom, Demorest, GA; sister, Lillian Johnson, Roanoke Rapids, NC; brother, Lee Newsom, Kill Devil Hills, NC; grandchildren, Stephanie and Steve Vettese, Atlanta, GA, Jennifer and Lew Hallford, Demorest, GA, Steven Newsom, Charleston, SC; and great-grandchildren, Parks and Jack Vettese, Atlanta, GA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 13, 2010 at the Fairfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Allison officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
