Tommy L. Tilson

Tommy L. Tilson, Sr., age 79, of Lula, Georgia passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021. Mr. Tilson was born on July 16, 1942 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Ernest and Fannie Erwin Tilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Clarice Tilson; brothers, Lawton Erwin, J.C. Tilson, Truman Tilson; sisters, Hazel Robinson, and Marie Collins. Mr. Tilson was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was Owner and Operator of Tilson Small Engines. Tommy was an avid camper, fisherman and hunter. He was known to his grandchildren as "Papa" and he was also known as "Big Daddy". Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn Campbell Tilson, of Lula; daughters, Malissa Reems, Amanda Jarrard; sons, Tommy "Larry" Tilson, Jr., David Matthew Tilson; sister, Janie Baker, of Commerce; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. Stephen Tilson and Rev. Larry Dyer officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at the funeral home.
