Joe Michael Wood

Joe Michael Wood, age 69, of Clarkesville, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 11, 2018, following a sudden illness. Mr. Wood was born on May 29, 1948, in Clarkesville, Georgia, to the late Edd and Hazel Anderson Wood. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Keith Wood and Warren Wood. Mr. Wood was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from Lanier Technical College as a Machine Tool Technology Instructor with 20 years of loyal and dedicated service. Mr. Wood was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Judy Burke Wood of Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Blake and Celeste Wood of Clarkesville; son, Brian Wood of Clarkesville; brother, Rick Wood of Clarkesville; and grandchildren: Kale, Alex, Caitlin, and Allison Wood. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Rev. Ronnie Powell and Rev. Tony Goss officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the funeral home.
