James O. Kimbrell

James O. Kimbrell, age 82, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 25, 2018, following an extended illness. Mr. Kimbrell was born on April 23, 1935, in Banks County, Georgia; a son of the late George and Lizzie Kimbrell. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jack Kimbrell and Blanton Kimbrell and sisters: Christine Dill, Joyce Kimbrell, and Qwita “Weed” Hardy. Mr. Kimbrell was a retired poultry farmer and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Purdy Kimbrell of Mt. Airy; daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and James LaCount of Mt. Airy; sisters, Geraldine Hunt of Toccoa and Mary Faye Brookshire of Demorest; brother, Bradley Kimbrell of Mt. Airy; granddaughter, Melissa Pittman; and four step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Rev. Jan Devereaux officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at the funeral home.
