Betty Ivester Frye Franklin

Betty Ivester Frye Franklin, age 80, of Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017. Mrs. Franklin was born on January 10, 1937, in Turnerville, Georgia, to the late Newt Preston and Cloyce Idellar Ivester. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Wesley Buford Frye; second husband, Albert Edgar Franklin; stepson, Richard Dale Franklin; and brother, Leo Ivester. Betty was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served as a Trustee. She was also on the Building and Grounds Committee as well as the Financial, Benevolence, and History Committees. Betty retired from Walmart with 13 years of service and was former owner and operator of Hill Switch Grocery and Gas. Survivors include her stepdaughter, Audrey Turner of Alto; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Jackie Franklin of Oswego, NY and Danny Ray and Lisa Frye of Turnerville; sister, Mildred Holland of Turnerville; brother, Carl Lee Ivester of Turnerville; grandchildren: Wesley Frye, Latisha Daniel, Jessica Pullen, Katie Franklin, Odie Turner, and Stacie Ivie; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Austin Ivester and Dr. Kenneth Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
